SINGLE people with low income who have difficulty finding affordable accommodation in the capital city, fret no more.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will provide them with microhousing facilities this year.
DBKL is currently refurbishing an existing building along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman to be turned into a capsule hotel with residential units for them.
“But once they are married, they will not be eligible for micro housing,” he said at a press conference on his 100th day tenure as mayor at Menara DBKL.

was Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad.
Nor Hisham said there would be 200 micro housing units for men and women with a rental of RM100 a month.
“This is part of the initiative to give back to society, just like free GoKL buses, and all Malaysians can apply.
“The rental fee and application method will be finalised soon,” he added.
Nor Hisham highlighted several issues that he would like to focus on this year, including traffic congestion, over-development as well as the plight of the urban poor and homeless in the city.
“We hope to make Kuala Lumpur a low-carbon and smart city where city folk can enjoy good quality of life while boosting the economy.
“Problems like pot holes, traffic congestion and flash floods need to be addressed immediately.
“Traffic impact assessments will be done in congested areas such as Jalan Kuching, and we will work together with Malaysian Highway Authority on this,” he said.
Nor Hisham said development in Kuala Lumpur was 50% saturated with places like Bangsar South and Mont Kiara filled with condominiums and residential units.
He said they were committed to preserving places such as KL Forest Eco Park (formerly Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve) and Taman Tugu.
When the Kuala Lumpur City Plan for 2040 is available for the public to view next year, city residents should give their views on it, Nor Hisham added.
He said traditional villages in Kuala Lumpur such as Kampung Puah, Kampung Sungai Penchala and Kampung Sungai Besi should be preserved.
